Money Money Money… the most “not talked about topic”. The most dreaded topic in entrepreneurship. The most shushed topic in business.
I am sure, like you, you also heard these popular sayings when you were growing up.
Money does not grow on trees.
You don’t know the value of money
Money is hard to earn.
Rich people are evil.
You have to do evil things to earn lots of money.
Its a good thing we don’t have a lot of money, we are at least happy.
With money comes many problems.
There are so many such sayings I grew up and that’s why I had a difficult time negotiating my salary also.
My last boss used to beat me down for 50 mins in a one hour annual review call telling me how I was not ‘technical’ enough and how I needed to be more ‘technical’. Later I realised that he just wanted to put me down to not me the raise i deserved.
And the above limiting beliefs kept me down. The loss of 14 L in my first business had also caused me to believe that I didn’t deserve money because I could not value it and keep it.
I had a hard time overcoming all these negative beliefs about money and to repair my relationship with money.
