Without further ado, let’s jump straight to it.

Email Marketing Practices for Successful Emails

Email marketing is more of an art than a science. So instead of writing from your head, I want you to write from your heart.

With that said, here are the best practices for writing emails that make a sale.

Address The Reciever In Singular

When you are writing an email and sending in bulk, don’t make the mistake of writing to a group. The person receiving your email does not know that other people are receiving it too. So, write your emails in singular terms, such as You, Your, yourself, etc.

Get The Subject Line Right

The first step to email marketing is giving your emails a subject line that grabs the attention of its readers. You want to make sure it’s interesting enough, but not too over-the-top where they don’t trust it anymore!

Some good subject lines are “5 ways to reduce 4 lbs of weight in a weekend” or ” 3 tips for cracking that dream job interview”.

You have to [lead] your prospects to opening the email. So, make sure you end your subject line with [ Look Inside ], [Surprise Inside], [Gift Inside], [Read More], [Recipe Inside] [Template Inside], [Formula Inside], etc.

Don’t Sell In The Subject Line

Your subject line is the doorway to your email. Let it stay that way. Many people make the mistake of adding an offer in the subject line. If you add an offer in the subject line, for example, ” Get the natural shampoo buy 1 get 1 free”, chances are people will not open the email.

Write An Email That People Want To Read

This is the most important factor in email marketing. If your email isn’t interesting to read, people won’t bother opening it and reading through all its content. Write as if a friend is writing the email.

Remember, back in the days, we had pen pals and we used to send letters across continents?

You want people to EAGERLY wait for your email. You want to build a relationship via your emails, so that your prospects love hearing from you.

Start With The Problem Statement

When you start with a problem statement, immediately the prospects know what the email is about and 9 out of 10, they will continue to read the email because that problem resonates with them. If you have done your lead generation right, then you should have people in your list who care about the problems that you are solving for your clients.

Agitate The Problem

Once you have started the email with a problem, now you want to agitate the problem. Elaborate the problem and use feelings that escalate the problem in people’s minds. While you agitate the problem, also make sure that you soothe the pain by generalizing the problem. If you just agitate and then don’t smooth it out, chances are, they will not continue to read.

For example,

Problem: If you have gained 10 Kgs or more in this pandemic, then this email is for you.

Agitate: Have you looked at yourself in the mirror and noticed that your body has inflated into a balloon from the past year. This pandemic has been tough on many and you are not the only one for whom, their bodies have blown up. Many others are going through the same problem.

Story Time

When you tell them about their problem, you sympathize. When you identify with their problem because you have been there too, you empathize.

People like people who empathize, not sympathize.

Tell a story about how you were at their place just a few years ago and how did you FEEL that time. When you tell them about your past, you tend to build a relationship where there is a common villain for both of you. People invest more with you when you have been there.

Solution Time

Now is the time for a quick solution. What did you do to solve that problem, what steps you took, how was your journey, how did you solve the problem for yourself.

Call To Action

End the email with a call to action. For a detailed solution, book a time with me, call me, email me, visit my website, buy my product, whatever seems relevant.

Email marketing has been around for a long time, and it’s here to stay! With these tips in mind, you can guarantee your emails are always successful. This email marketing tutorial has some great ideas on how to write emails that will get your prospects open and read more.

Remember, if you don’t grab their attention within the first three seconds of opening the email; it is likely they won’t even bother reading through all its content. So get the subject line right. Then get the email body right and you are good to go. Let me know in the comments if you have any specific questions.
